Public Data Release 3 is now available!
Incremental Data Release 5!
The galaxy density map from Shimakawa et al. 2021 is publicly available as part of this incremental release. There is prominent over/under dense structure in the Wide layer and the density map will be useful for addressing the role of environment. Please visit the dedicated page for details.
Database server update! (30 Apr 2020)
We have introduced new database servers for your queries. You can use the new servers by selecting ‘pdr2-citus’ from the pull-down menu of the SQL editor, and most of your queries will run faster than before. Please report to us if you find any issues.
Public Data Release 2
Welcome to the Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic Program Data Release Site!
The second public release of HSC-SSP occurred on 30 May 2019. The release includes over 300 square degrees of deep multi-color data served through dedicated databases and user interfaces. The figures below shows the area covered in this release and the table gives an overview of the data in the three survey layers. Refer to our survey website for details of the survey design.
In addition to the main data, we now make the detailed shape measurements from the S16A internal data release, which is a larger data set than Public Data Release 1 (PDR1) and covers about 160 square degrees, available to the community. For details of all the data products in PDR2, refer to the PDR2 paper.
If you use the HSC data in your publication, please acknowledge us. Please note that only the processed HSC data are available on this site. The raw data can be retrieved from SMOKA. The previous release site is still available. Follow the link below.
References
Here is a list of technical papers for your reference. Please reference relevant papers in your publications. PASJ special issue for HSC-SSP has been published and many of the papers here are included in that issue.
IMPORTANT: HSC source names
Recently a potential confusion with sources from the Hubble Source Catalog (which is also HSC) was pointed out by the IAU Working Group Designations. Please name sources from the Hyper Suprime-Cam Survey as ‘HSC Jhhmmss.ss+/-ddmmss.s’.

The Collaboration and Supporting Agencies
The Hyper Suprime-Cam Subaru Strategic Program (HSC-SSP) is led by the astronomical communities of Japan and Taiwan, and Princeton University. The instrumentation and software were developed by the National Astronomical Observatory of Japan (NAOJ), the Kavli Institute for the Physics and Mathematics of the Universe (Kavli IPMU), the University of Tokyo, the High Energy Accelerator Research Organization (KEK), the Academia Sinica Institute for Astronomy and Astrophysics in Taiwan (ASIAA), and Princeton University. The survey was made possible by funding contributed by the Ministry of Education, Culture, Sports, Science and Technology (MEXT), the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science (JSPS), (Japan Science and Technology Agency (JST), the Toray Science Foundation, NAOJ, Kavli IPMU, KEK, ASIAA, and Princeton University.
